I engaged Bill Hackel and Boland to sell our Pearson 365 after years of happy sailing and ownership. This was a special challenge given the age of the boat and the added complication of the pandemic. While it took longer then either of us expected, Bill continued to work until the job was done. I appreciate that he stuck with the task and successfully wrapped things up in the end. We are both avid sailors, but this was our first time buying a boat in California and we had a lot to learn. We loved our time on the Bay with her. And we enjoyed Bill so much we have been friends ever since. Every time we are in San Francisco we grab him for a quick coffee or cocktail and talk about baseball, his amazing boys, our dogs and of course sailing. You will not find a better person to sell your boat. Bill Hackel is a gem and his talent for buying and selling boats can not be beat. You will not be disappointed. We guarantee it.

Just a short note to say we were the recipient of the first Explorer/Clipper 45 here in New Zealand, and the interest it is generating must be pretty good for Phil Gilbert. Libertar was in the NZ Boating Magazine this month and Pacific Motor Yachts next month. We are very happy with our boat ˆ after a few minor teething problems were sorted, i.e. the dinghy hoist and changing the steel rails at the flybridge. But it works well now, thank you. The flybridge is fabulous, a good party area with the fridge close at hand. And we have already caught some lovely fish from the very large boarding platform. The boat is beautifully finished. People are amazed at the quality coming out of China, but we tell them the quality control by Explorer/Clipper is very good. We just need to sort out the noisy fans in the galley and head and we will have a perfect boat. We are looking forward to many happy weeks spent out on the Hauraki Gulf, the Barrier, Bay of Islands etc. Thank you to all your team. Cheers

Buying a new boat was an enjoyable and memorable experience for my wife and I. We have owned four other powerboats that we enjoyed with our family and friends. The last boat we bought was from Richard Boland Yachts 20 years ago. It was a used 36' sport fisher. It has been a great boat. My wife and I went aboard a 42' Hi-Star trawler, which Richard was showing. We were impressed with the room and the quality of workmanship but felt that we might want a larger boat built with the same quality. Richard offered several good options and after a year of planning, that we greatly enjoyed, Richard and Hi-Star had created our new boat. We plan to do some long-range fishing in Mexico and eventually cruise to the North West. Richard introduced us to Roger Nunez, with Reliable Marine & Electronics. Roger supplied and installed the needed navigation equipment. Richard also introduced us to Bob, with Key Largo Yacht Management. Bob designed and installed our fishing pole holders and out riggers, along with furnishing and installing carpets for our salon and sky lounge. When we sea trialed our new boat, Richard made arrangements for a captain to check out the boats handling and all the systems. Captain Ken Murray helped us learn what was needed to know, to operate our new boat. Ken was a very important part of receiving our boat. My wife and I appreciate the effort of Richard Boland and the Hi-Star designers and craftsman. Our ACTIVA 55 exceeded our expectations. The comfort, speed, range and sea worthiness gave us exactly what we wanted at a reasonable price. I would recommend Richard Boland Yachts if you are interested in buying a new or used boat.

Lake Tahoe has always been a favorite vacation destination of ours, and we’ve always thought replacing our sold home (2012) with a new one. We have been Tahoe boat owners for many years, and sold our most recent Chris Craft in 2019. After considering our living and boating options, we thought about the fun we’d have on a liveaboard yacht at Lake Tahoe. So after a little research, we started looking for boats and yacht brokers. This was a big decision for us. We remembered meeting Richard Boland several years ago at the Alameda Boat Show, so one day in early 2019 we headed to Alameda to visit his office. Richard greeted us with enthusiasm. He explained the Riviera product line, took us on a cruise on a 36’ Riviera SUV, and allowed us to experience yachting on the Bay. After discussion, and considering our needs, Richard suggested a Riviera 395 SUV. We then began the process of detailing the boat specifications and décor. What fun! Richard kept us fully advised as to optional equipment we needed to enjoy the boat at Tahoe. Finally, we took the plunge and ordered the boat. Richard flew to the Riviera factory in Australia twice to oversee production, finally flying to Long Beach to oversee the off-loading of our boat after delivery to Long Beach. A captain brought the boat up from Long Beach, and it arrived in mid-April of ’20. We transported the boat to Lake Tahoe in July of ’20 and spent three lovely summer months on the Lake. We usually anchored off a quiet beach for 2 or 3 nights, coming back to our slip to reprovision. What a wonderful summer on the water with friends and family! Richard was with us every step of the way – included in the boat cost was transportation from Australia, piloting the boat to Alameda and transportation to Lake Tahoe. There was not one unreturned phone call beyond 15 minutes, availability at all times for problem solving, and resolution of warranty issues. Further, he has made himself available to assist us in the re-delivery to Lake Tahoe this summer, and help with scheduled engine service before then. We have never had service of this magnitude from any company. He has become more than a boat broker to us. He is our friend and our “go to yacht professional”. There is no one I would recommend more for anyone’s yachting needs.
